The cultural triangle completely escaped the destructive floods of Cyclone Ditwah. The heavy rains primarily impacted the central highlands and eastern coast. The ancient brick stupas, ruins, and cave temples in Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, and Dambulla experienced heavy showers but suffered absolutely no structural damage or flooding. The archaeological sites are fully open and safe to visit, and the surrounding jungle is actually incredibly lush and vibrant green right now due to the rain.
