What is the dress code for Dambulla Cave Temple!
Can we wear shorts since it is incredibly hot or do we need to cover up fully.

Despite the intense heat, the dress code at Dambulla Cave Temple is strictly enforced as it is a highly sacred Buddhist site. Both men and women must wear clothing that completely covers their shoulders and extends fully past their knees. Shorts and tank tops are absolutely forbidden.
If you arrive wearing shorts, the guards at the entrance will deny you entry. You can either buy a cheap sarong from the vendors near the car park to wrap around your waist, or carry a lightweight scarf in your bag specifically to cover up when you reach the top.
