Bars came back when we left the crush (that thread). Now the icon says 5G and partner wants to dump the 4K on mobile because hotel wifi looks sad. Mirror had SLT-Mobitel talking network expansion today. Wrong operator, I know. Is Dialog 5G actually a thing on this lake street at 10.30 or a sticker on 4G we will pay for.

An icon is not a speed test and not a coverage gazette. I cannot swear whether Dialog 5G is live on this specific Kandy street at 22:30 on 21 Aug. Mirror's SLT-Mobitel expansion note is a different operator and not a Kandy-5G map. Run a tiny test file, not the whole 4K, and watch the prepaid. Hotel wifi is the other thread. Do not roam onto a tourist hotspot named "Maligawa_Free."
Crush-died-bars-came-back was the crowd, not a tower lighting 5G at 10.30. If it works, it works. If it flips to E, stop.

TukTuk or tour drivers take you to "gem museums" or "government-certified" gem shops. They receive huge commissions (up to 40%) on anything you buy. Prices are inflated 3-10x the actual value.
Men approach tourists near Temple of the Tooth offering to be guides. After the tour, they demand large "donations" or guide fees (5000-10000 LKR).
