Dialog had bars at the hotel and died the second we hit the crowd - is that the Kandy Perahera tax
Two bars in the room. On Dalada my maps died mid-pin. Everyone around us is also holding a phone up like a torch. Is this just 20,000 people on one tower or did Dialog actually brown out the lake. We need a pin to get back.

It is the crowd. Same thing every Esala - cell sector around the Maligawa falls over. SMS to the hotel often works when data does not. Screenshot offline maps before you leave the room tomorrow. WhatsApp may limp on 3G.
Airtel friend had the same death. Not a Dialog-only conspiracy. Hotel Wi-Fi on the walk-back was the first useful network.

TukTuk or tour drivers take you to "gem museums" or "government-certified" gem shops. They receive huge commissions (up to 40%) on anything you buy. Prices are inflated 3-10x the actual value.
Men approach tourists near Temple of the Tooth offering to be guides. After the tour, they demand large "donations" or guide fees (5000-10000 LKR).
