Nikini is Thursday - do we buy beer on Wednesday or will every bottle shop already be shuttered for Perahera week

Not asking if Kandy is dry on the parade night, already read that. We will be in Galle on the 27th. Excise list says islandwide dry day. Does that mean the supermarket beer fridge locks Wednesday night. Can a hotel still pour a guest a gin.

Poya is a national sale ban, not a Kandy-only mood. Bottle shops and supermarket liquor corners close. Many restaurants will not sell a beer. Some tourist-board hotels play a grey in-house game for room guests - do not count on it in Galle Fort. Buy what you want on Wednesday and drink privately, or enjoy a dry Thursday. Do not ask a tuk-tuk for a "special shop".

We bought on Wednesday in Unawatuna, hotel bar shrugged on Poya. Fine.

Grand Randoli is the same night in Kandy - if you are there, it is dry and the big parade.

If the hotel fridge already has two beers from Tuesday, is that a problem on Thursday or just do not walk out with them.

Buying Wednesday in Galle. Not asking a tuk for a special shop.
