I am fascinated by maritime history. Can recreational divers explore the 1893 Earl of Shaftesbury shipwreck off Hikkaduwa, and where are the legendary late night beach raves afterward.

Yes! The Earl of Shaftesbury is a fantastic historical dive. It sank in 1893 and sits at a very manageable depth of about 15 meters, making it accessible for Open Water divers. The wreck is heavily encrusted with coral and is a massive haven for marine life, including giant sea turtles and schools of batfish. It is a stunning blend of history and wildlife.

After your dive, Hikkaduwa nightlife is practically mandatory. Vibration Music Bar is legendary for its Friday night raves. It gets incredibly loud and sweaty, going well past 3 AM with underground techno and EDM.
