First timer 10 days - south coast + ella or add kandy too?
Trying to plan. Is kandy worth squeezing in or just beach and hills? Don't wanna rush too much.

If it's your first time, south coast + ella is plenty. Kandy is nice but you can do it another trip or if you have more time. Rushing three places in 10 days gets tiring. Beach and train to ella is a classic combo, lots to do without feeling packed.
Yeah don't overdo it. South + ella gives good mix of chill and scenery. Kandy can wait unless you really want the temple and lake vibe this time.

TukTuk or tour drivers take you to "gem museums" or "government-certified" gem shops. They receive huge commissions (up to 40%) on anything you buy. Prices are inflated 3-10x the actual value.
Men approach tourists near Temple of the Tooth offering to be guides. After the tour, they demand large "donations" or guide fees (5000-10000 LKR).
