Absolutely. Colombo is famous for fast, high end bespoke tailoring. Shops like Hameedia or Envoy Mansion carry premium pure Irish and Italian linens. If you explain your tight schedule, they can do the initial fitting in the morning and have the final safari suits delivered directly to your luxury hotel by the next evening.
Make sure to choose a muted olive or khaki color. Bright colors and stark whites are heavily discouraged in Yala as they startle the leopards and elephants.
I highly recommend getting a lightweight linen blend rather than pure linen. Pure linen wrinkles too easily when you are jumping in and out of the safari jeeps.
Scam Watch: colombo
Driver claims the meter is broken and quotes an inflated flat rate. Common on arrival at airport or railway stations when tourists are tired and disoriented.
Drivers wearing official-looking uniforms claim to be "government-approved" and charge 3-5x normal rates. They may have fake badges or ID cards.
Women with babies approach asking you to buy milk powder at a nearby shop (not cash). The shop is run by accomplices and charges 5-10x normal price.
