Halpewatte tea factory tour review.
2 Answers from travellers
Halpewatte Tea Factory is absolutely worth visiting, especially if you are staying in Ella, as it is just a short tuk tuk ride away. It is one of the largest factories in the Uva province.
Yes, the massive machinery is fully operational during the tour. You will literally feel the heat and smell the intense aroma of the tea leaves drying and rolling. The guides explain the complex grading process brilliantly, and the tour ends with a fantastic tasting session overlooking the mountains.

People outside stations offer to "help" buy tickets but charge large markups. They may buy cheap third-class tickets and sell as more expensive classes.
