Hiking Ella Rock in the afternoon rain safely

I strongly advise against hiking Ella Rock in the afternoon rain. The final 30 minutes of the trail is a very steep ascent over exposed dirt, tree roots, and rocks. When it rains, this turns into a slick mudslide, making descending incredibly dangerous. Additionally, the summit is exposed to lightning. Always do Ella Rock in the early morning.
Smart choice. Plus, the view from Ella Rock is usually blocked by fog in the afternoon anyway.
If it rains, just go to Little Adams Peak instead. It has proper stone steps and is much safer when wet.
Take a raincoat regardless. Mountain weather changes in 5 minutes.
Good to know. We will change our plans and do Little Adams Peak instead.
Also, the leeches come out by the thousands the second the ground gets wet. You will be covered in them.
