I heard locals intentionally misdirect tourists into the tea fields. What should we do.

This is an incredibly common trap. Locals will stand near the railway tracks and confidently point you down a narrow overgrown side path claiming the main trail is blocked by landslides.

Once you are hopelessly lost in the dense tea bushes they magically appear and demand a massive fee to guide you back. To avoid this completely you must download the Maps.me app. The correct trail is perfectly mapped there. Ignore all unsolicited directions and trust your phone.
