Will we be able to take good photos without a massive zoom lens on our cameras.

In Udawalawe, the jeeps can get incredibly close to the wild elephants. Because the park consists of wide open plains and the elephants are very accustomed to the vehicles, they will often walk right alongside or directly in front of your jeep.

You absolutely do not need a massive, expensive zoom lens. A standard smartphone camera or a basic DSLR lens is perfectly fine to capture stunning, full frame photos of the herds interacting near the water.

The drivers are highly respectful and turn their engines off when an elephant approaches, allowing you to quietly observe their natural behavior from just a few meters away.
