How many days do I really need for Anuradhapura + Polonnaruwa + Sigiriya?
We have 4 full days in the Cultural Triangle. Is that enough to see the main sites without rushing, or should we drop one place?

4 days is perfect if you base yourself in Sigiriya or Habarana. Do Sigiriya + Pidurangala on day 1, Polonnaruwa on day 2, Anuradhapura on day 3, and have a relaxed day 4 for Mihintale or just resting by the pool. Rushing all three in 3 days is miserable in the heat.
Hire one driver for all three days. It saves so much hassle with tuk-tuks and you can ask him to adjust the pace based on how tired the family is.
We tried to do it in 3 days and regretted it. The heat at Anuradhapura is brutal after lunch. 4 days minimum.
