If they find a leopard for us, what is a generous but fair tip in local currency.

Safari jeep drivers in Yala work incredibly hard in intense heat to track down wildlife for you. If they successfully find a leopard and navigate you into a good viewing position without being overly aggressive, a generous tip is highly expected.

A fair and generous tip for a great half day safari is around 1500 to 3000 Sri Lankan Rupees for the driver, handed directly to them at the end of the trip. If you also had a separate wildlife tracker from the park office in the jeep, you should tip them a similar amount separately.
