While literally thousands of tourists actively joyfully walk completely freely along the highly iconic tracks every single day it is fundamentally inherently incredibly dangerous. You must absolutely comprehensively rely on the local cafe owners who expertly actively monitor the highly unpredictable train schedules and aggressively blow whistles when a train is approaching.

People outside stations offer to "help" buy tickets but charge large markups. They may buy cheap third-class tickets and sell as more expensive classes.
