I love trying local food but I am terrified of getting sick. What is safe to eat.

Street food in Kandy is generally very safe and absolutely delicious, provided you follow the golden rule of street dining anywhere in the world: only eat at stalls that are completely packed with local customers.

A high turnover means the food is cooked fresh and constantly moving. Stick strictly to foods that are cooked on a blazing hot grill right in front of you, like kottu roti or hoppers. Avoid any pre cut fruit or salads, as they might have been washed in unfiltered tap water.
