Palmyra toddy is a staple of northern culture and is perfectly safe if consumed fresh. You must go early in the morning (around 8 AM to 10 AM) when it is sweet and mildly fermented. If you drink it late in the afternoon, the heat causes rapid fermentation, making it highly alcoholic and sour, which might upset a foreign stomach.

Do not eat the super spicy raw seafood they sell outside the tavern if you have a weak stomach though.

We drank it out of folded palmyra leaves. It was an incredible cultural experience, completely safe.

Technically yes, but culturally it is very rare. Women in your group might feel uncomfortable due to the staring.
