Kandy to South Coast train — best scenic stops or photo opportunities along the way?
I want great photos on the Kandy to Galle train. Any recommended stops or tips for photography?

The Kandy to Galle train passes through beautiful tea country, hills, and eventually coastal areas. Some scenic stretches are between Kandy and Peradeniya, and later as you descend toward the coast. The train itself offers good views from windows — 2nd class is fine for photography. Observation car has bigger windows but can be crowded with photographers. You can't really get off for photos at random stops, but you can shoot from the train or during longer station stops. Early morning light is often best. The journey is long, so patience and being ready for spontaneous shots works well. Many beautiful compositions are possible from the moving train itself.
Will shoot from the train and during station stops. Early morning light noted. Thanks.

TukTuk or tour drivers take you to "gem museums" or "government-certified" gem shops. They receive huge commissions (up to 40%) on anything you buy. Prices are inflated 3-10x the actual value.
Men approach tourists near Temple of the Tooth offering to be guides. After the tour, they demand large "donations" or guide fees (5000-10000 LKR).
