Is it worth booking a Pottuvil Lagoon safari after surfing in the morning to see crocodiles and elephants.

Yes, the Pottuvil Lagoon eco-tour is highly recommended. It is entirely run by the local fishing community. You float silently through the mangroves on a non-motorized traditional raft. You are guaranteed to see massive saltwater crocodiles, monitor lizards, and often wild elephants drinking at the edge of the water. Do it around 4:00 PM for the best light and animal activity.

They are double-hulled outrigger canoes. They are extremely stable, you will not tip over.

It is incredibly peaceful. No loud jeep engines, just the sound of the paddles hitting the water.

Are the rafts stable. My girlfriend is terrified of tipping over near a crocodile.

Bring mosquito spray. Once the sun starts to set, the lagoon mosquitoes are ruthless.
