I heard Pigeon Island has good coral and turtles. Is it still worth going or has it been damaged? Best way to get there from Trinco town?

Pigeon Island still has some of the best remaining shallow coral in the east. The snorkeling is excellent, especially around the smaller island. Turtles are common. Take a local boat from Nilaveli beach (10-15 min ride). Avoid the glass-bottom boats - they damage the coral.

Nilaveli has some nice budget guesthouses right on the beach if you want to stay a couple of nights instead of day-tripping from Trinco.

We saw three turtles and lots of colorful fish. The coral is patchy but still beautiful in places. Go early morning before the bigger tourist boats arrive.
