We were in Tangalle a few nights. Hostel offered a 9.30pm Rekawa walk. I know peak nesting is the winter. Are we paying to stand on a dark beach for nothing. Kid is 8, last-bus mood by 10.

Turtles nest on this coast more than one month, but the reliable nights are the northern winter. August is a maybe. A good community walk still takes you, explains the rules, and refunds or reschedules if the scout says no activity. A bad one takes the cash either way. Ask that question before you get in the van.

We went, saw crab tracks, no turtle, back by 11. I was fine; the 8-year-old was asleep.
