We are staying in Arugam Bay and want to surf Peanut Farm. Will the local tuktuks take two longboards on the roof, and how much should it cost.

Yes, virtually every tuktuk in Arugam Bay is fitted with a specialized metal roof rack for surfboards. They can easily strap two 9-foot longboards on top. The ride to Peanut Farm is about 15-20 minutes down a bumpy dirt road. The standard local rate for a return trip (including waiting time while you surf) is around 2500 to 3500 LKR.

Do they wait the whole time we are in the water.

Make sure you agree on the price for a RETURN trip. There are no empty tuktuks waiting at Peanut Farm to bring you back.

Yes, they just park in the shade and chill with the other drivers until you are done surfing.

Also, ask the driver to drive slowly. That dirt road shakes the boards violently if they hit the potholes too fast.
