Tipping hotel housekeeping staff in Sri Lanka.

Tipping housekeeping staff is highly appreciated in Sri Lanka, as their base salaries are often quite low. The most common and polite method is to leave a small amount of cash, roughly 200 to 500 Rupees, directly on your pillow every morning.
Tipping daily ensures that the specific person who cleans your room that day receives the money, as shift rotations happen frequently. If you wait until checkout to leave a lump sum, it might not go to the people who worked hardest during your stay.
You do not need to leave a massive tip. A few hundred rupees a day is a wonderful gesture that will guarantee you get extra bottled water, fresh towels, and brilliant smiles from the staff.
