Drivers are asking for huge prices to go to the Nine Arch Bridge. Is this normal.

Because Ella is incredibly hilly and highly commercialized the local tuk tuk drivers have essentially formed a mafia that artificially inflates prices specifically for tourists. They aggressively demand double or triple the normal local rate for short trips to the Nine Arch Bridge. The absolute best way to avoid this scam is to simply walk it is a beautiful easy thirty minute hike from the town center. If you must take a tuk tuk firmly negotiate the price before getting in and be prepared to walk away if they refuse to offer a fair rate.
