What are the best hidden gems in Arugam Bay for surfing?
3 Answers from travellers
While the main point in Arugam Bay is famous, Peanut Farm beach is a fantastic hidden gem just a short tuk tuk ride away. It features incredibly soft, forgiving waves over a sandy bottom, making it the perfect spot for beginners to learn peacefully.
If you are an intermediate surfer wanting to avoid crowds, check out Elephant Rock. The wave there is excellent and the backdrop is stunning. Just be aware that you have to walk a bit from the drop off point to reach the actual break.
Whiskey Point is another highly recommended secret spot further south. It offers very consistent, long right handers and remains remarkably uncrowded even during the peak summer surfing season.
