Leopards definitely inhabit Horton Plains but they are much harder to spot than in the dry zones because of the dense forest cover. Sightings by tourists on the main trail are extremely rare and usually happen very early in the morning when the park first opens. You are far more likely to see the Sambar deer and the endemic purple faced langur monkeys. If you are very lucky, you might see leopard tracks on the muddy sections of the trail.
