I want to hike in Sinharaja but I know it is a rainforest. Are there months when it is relatively dry so the trails are not too muddy or full of leeches.

The driest months are typically January to March and then August to September. However, even in the dry season, rain can happen at any time. To manage leeches, wear long socks and apply salt or a specialized leech repellent available at the park entrance. The humidity is always high, so wear breathable clothing and bring plenty of water.

The biodiversity is actually more active during the wetter months if you are a bird watcher. Look for the Sri Lanka Blue Magpie and the Red faced Malkoha. If you visit via the Kudawa entrance, there are several waterfalls like Gal Oruwa that look much more impressive after a bit of rain.
