The best and most direct way to travel between Kandy and Trincomalee is by hiring a private taxi. The drive takes about 4 hours and is very scenic.
For a budget option, you can catch a direct AC intercity bus from the Kandy Goods Shed bus terminal. It is cheap and relatively comfortable, though slightly slower than a taxi.
