What is the route for the Walk for Peace pilgrimage next week?
I saw news about a group of monks walking from Anuradhapura to Colombo. Can tourists join this walk or is it only for devotees.

The Walk for Peace starts on April 21, 2026, from the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura. Monks will carry a Bodhi sapling through Dambulla, Kandy, and Kegalle before reaching Colombo on April 28. Tourists are welcome to observe or join for sections. It is a beautiful way to see the island at a slow pace. If you join, remember to wear white, keep hydrated, and follow the instructions of the organizers to maintain the spiritual sanctity of the event.

Women with babies approach asking you to buy milk powder at a nearby shop (not cash). The shop is run by accomplices and charges 5-10x normal price.
