The Knuckles Range is unpredictable. Temperatures can drop to ten degrees Celsius at night, so a thermal layer and a fleece are vital. Essential gear includes a high quality waterproof jacket and dedicated leech socks. Do not rely on just salt or soap. The mist can be thick, so a headlamp is mandatory. Most importantly, carry a dry bag for your electronics as the humidity is very high even when it is not raining.
