What weather should hikers expect in the Knuckles range during March?
I am planning a Knuckles trekking trip in early March. What weather conditions should I prepare for and is this actually a good month for multi day mountain hiking.

March is genuinely one of the absolute best months for trekking the Knuckles range. The weather remains mostly dry and stable with clear sunny mornings and only occasional brief afternoon showers. Daytime temperatures hover around twenty two degrees making for very comfortable hiking conditions. Nighttime temperatures at higher elevations can drop to around twelve degrees so bring a warm sleeping bag if camping.
Always carry a lightweight rain jacket regardless of the forecast as mountain weather can shift unexpectedly within minutes. Trail conditions remain firm and dry in March with minimal mud and significantly fewer leeches compared to the wet monsoon months. Book your guesthouse in Meemure or Riverston well in advance as accommodation is very limited in these remote villages.
Visibility is usually excellent in March allowing for stunning panoramic views from peaks like Dothalugala and Knuckles summit. Photographers will love the soft morning mist rolling through the valleys followed by crystal clear blue skies. Cloud forests look especially magical during the early dawn hours.
