Where do we actually go out this month if Galle is soggy?

Late 20s, like a bar, not a rave. Originally booked Galle/Mirissa nights. If we pivot east, is A-Bay just surf bros and 2am reggae, or is there a civilised drink? Galle Fort in the rain - anything open?

Fort cafes and a handful of bars still run in August. It is early, damp, and half-empty, which some people prefer. Mirissa beach-bar season is the wrong monsoon, a few places stay open for whoever washed in. Do not expect a Saturday in December.

August is the scene in A-Bay. Main Point road after sunset: beer, grilled fish, backpacker volume. Not fancy. Fine for a few nights. Poya 27 Aug kills the legal pour island-wide.

We did two Fort nights (good food, early) and four A-Bay nights (louder, cheaper Lion). If you want a nice wine list, Colombo or a resort, not this month's beach towns.

Someone befriends you and offers a "once in a lifetime" opportunity to buy gems at wholesale prices and resell them abroad for huge profit. They may show you fake export certificates. The gems are worthless glass or low-quality stones.

Restaurants without visible prices. Bill arrives with inflated charges (500 LKR coconut becomes 1500 LKR). "Service charges" added without disclosure.
