Who do we actually call - 119, 1912, or the tourist police landline - if a tuk goes sideways tonight
Solo in Kandy. Driver got shouty about a fare after the parade talk (we walked). I have 119 in my notes, SLTDA says 1912, and a landline on Galle Road. Which one rings a human at 10pm. I do not need a lecture, I need the right digits.

119 is the police emergency. Use it if you are in danger, assaulted, robbed, need a car with a light on top. 1912 is SLTDA's tourism line - complaints, information, they can bridge you to tourist police. The Galle Road tourist police number is the dedicated desk in office hours. For a fare argument, 1912 / tourist police is the "I want a grown-up" call; for a chase, 119.
I called 1912 about a pushy driver in Colombo, got a human, felt better. Never needed 119.
110 fire/ambulance. Share live location with someone. Do not hand over the phone to the driver "so he can explain".

TukTuk or tour drivers take you to "gem museums" or "government-certified" gem shops. They receive huge commissions (up to 40%) on anything you buy. Prices are inflated 3-10x the actual value.
Men approach tourists near Temple of the Tooth offering to be guides. After the tour, they demand large "donations" or guide fees (5000-10000 LKR).
