Wildlife safaris and offroading in Chundikulam National Park

We want to take our 4x4 into Chundikulam National Park to see the sand dunes and wildlife. Since it is one of the newest national parks in the north, do we need a tracker, and are there leopards.

Yes, you must hire a Department of Wildlife Conservation tracker at the park entrance. It was a former high-security zone that nature has beautifully reclaimed. Leopards and sloth bears are present but extremely elusive due to the thick scrub. The real draw is the massive flocks of migratory ducks, wild horses, and the rugged, untouched sand dunes.

The offroading there is serious business. The sand gets incredibly deep near the lagoon edges, so definitely air down your tires before you enter the park and bring a recovery strap.
