One spare day in Ella. Everyone says be at the gate at 6 or you get a white wall. August is SW monsoon in the hills. Is it pointless?

World's End cloud-locks most mornings after about 09:30 year-round. August is wetter and muddier, worse odds than Feb-March, not zero. Stay Nuwara Eliya (30-40 min to the gate) not Ella (1.5-2 hr, 04:00 departure). Tickets at the gate, cash talk in guides. Foreigners sit in that about USD 30-42 park band, same DWC stack, confirm at the gate. If NBRO has a landslide warning on the Ohiya/Pattipola roads we cancel. Do not argue with the mountain.

Left Ella at 3:45, gate 6:10, viewpoint still clear at 7:15, soup by 8:30. Worth the pain once. Leeches after rain.

Leech socks or just accept you will donate blood. Take a fleece, it is cold at the top even in August.

Train Ticket Reseller ScamVerified

People outside stations offer to "help" buy tickets but charge large markups. They may buy cheap third-class tickets and sell as more expensive classes.
