10 days Sri Lanka, 4 days Maldives, back again - one ETA?
Thinking of splitting: land CMB 22 Aug, east coast, fly Male 1 Sep, back to CMB 5 Sep, out 12 Sep. Free ETA says double entry. Does the clock reset or do we only get leftover days?

Double entry is inside the original 30 days from first arrival. Second entry only gets leftover days, not a new 30. If you extend before you leave, double-entry is cancelled and you need a new ETA to come back.
We did SL-Male-SL in June on the free ETA. They counted from the first stamp. Keep the approval PDF both times.
Airline still wants proof you will leave at the end. Male ticket covers the first entry. You need something onward for the second SL stay too.
Ok leftover days, not a reset. Will keep a flight out after the second landing.
