Digital Nomad Visa requirements for a one year surf trip in Ahangama
3 Answers from travellers
Yes, the Digital Nomad Visa is fully active. You need to prove a minimum monthly income of 2000 USD routed through a local bank account. It is valid for one year and can be renewed. This is a much better option than trying to do border runs on standard tourist ETAs if you plan to stay in Ahangama long term.
Also note that the Digital Nomad Visa does not allow you to be employed by a Sri Lankan company. You must show proof of remote work or freelance income from abroad.
If you cannot meet the 2000 USD requirement, you can still get a 6 month extended tourist visa upon arrival if you apply through the official immigration portal, which covers the entire south coast surf season anyway.
