We are already in Colombo. We are not the Kandy people leaving Saturday night for the toss. We are not missing 6.28 and 6.44 because we are driving down. Family chat: Sunday 10.00 SSC 2nd Test, or van up Saturday for last Kumbal / Sunday first Randoli. Tomorrow 10am is the toss. Tonight is 11.15. Which week is this trip.

2nd Test, SSC, Sunday 23 Aug 10:00 local. First Test was Galle 15-19. Saturday 6:28 last Kumbal and Sunday 6:44 first Randoli are Kandy. You cannot be in the 10:00 SSC crowd and also on a Kandy kerb at 18:44. Going up Saturday for 6:28 means you are not a Sunday-toss person unless you skip the parade and come back Saturday night - which is the tired-road problem in a Colombo shirt. Pick one week.
Tickets: do not invent a walk-up or a price here - check SLC / the official channel in daylight, not a 23:15 forum. I cannot swear Sunday gate rules. Borella rites Saturday 5 PM is a Colombo afternoon problem if you stay (other thread closed as a Kandy-arrival clock).

Driver claims the meter is broken and quotes an inflated flat rate. Common on arrival at airport or railway stations when tourists are tired and disoriented.
Drivers wearing official-looking uniforms claim to be "government-approved" and charge 3-5x normal rates. They may have fake badges or ID cards.
Women with babies approach asking you to buy milk powder at a nearby shop (not cash). The shop is run by accomplices and charges 5-10x normal price.
