Any kade actually open at 5am for tea before the 5.30 theva or is that a fantasy
If we only do Tooth at 5.30, kid will want tea first. Partner is picturing a hopper shop steaming at 5.10. Is a Kandy kade before theva a real Saturday thing or a blog.

Some hopper / tea shops near the temple do wake up on festival mornings. That is not a named reservation. If you see a lit door at 5.10, that is the answer. If you do not, theva on an empty stomach is still theva. Do not set the alarm for a cafe that does not exist on a list.
Temple opens 5.30. Do not eat on the steps. Tea inland, then the machine ticket, then shoes in the booth.
We found tea at 5.20 two streets off. Another morning nothing until 6. Pack a biscuit from Cargills if it was actually open (other thread).
Scam Watch: kandy
TukTuk or tour drivers take you to "gem museums" or "government-certified" gem shops. They receive huge commissions (up to 40%) on anything you buy. Prices are inflated 3-10x the actual value.
Men approach tourists near Temple of the Tooth offering to be guides. After the tour, they demand large "donations" or guide fees (5000-10000 LKR).
