Right outside the main gates of the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens, there are several excellent local spots. The Honeypot Cafe is fantastic for a quick, high quality coffee and light snacks in a relaxing environment.
For a slightly more upscale, air conditioned meal, The Royal Mall restaurant nearby offers excellent Sri Lankan and Western dishes, perfect for cooling down after a hot garden walk.
If you want authentic, highly spiced local food, cross the main road and visit the small Peradeniya Rest House. They serve a massive, delicious rice and curry buffet that is incredibly cheap and popular with university students.
