Anyone know current visa extension rules for tourists in Colombo?
My 30 days is almost up and I want to stay longer. Is it still easy to extend or do I need to leave the country? Any recent experiences?

You can extend at the immigration office in Colombo. It's usually straightforward but bring all your docs and photos. Some people do it without issues.
I extended recently, was fine but they asked for proof of funds and return ticket. Better to have everything ready.
Yeah it's doable. My guests extended last month, took a couple of days but no big problems. Go early to avoid queues.

Driver claims the meter is broken and quotes an inflated flat rate. Common on arrival at airport or railway stations when tourists are tired and disoriented.
Drivers wearing official-looking uniforms claim to be "government-approved" and charge 3-5x normal rates. They may have fake badges or ID cards.
Women with babies approach asking you to buy milk powder at a nearby shop (not cash). The shop is run by accomplices and charges 5-10x normal price.
