Officially, the Sri Lankan immigration department requires all tourists, including Indian citizens, to have proof of sufficient funds to cover their stay. However, in practice, immigration officers at the Colombo airport very rarely ask to physically see bank statements or cash.

If you have a confirmed return flight ticket and a legitimate hotel booking for your first few nights, the officers will almost always stamp your passport without asking any financial questions.

It is still highly recommended to carry a major international credit card and a small amount of USD or LKR cash just to be completely safe in case you get a very strict immigration officer.
