I want to learn to surf but the main bays are packed. Where else can I go.

Yes, if Ahangama main breaks are crowded, head slightly west to SK Town. The waves there are very forgiving, and there are far fewer surfers fighting for space in the water.

Marshmallow point near Ahangama also offers some very gentle rolling waves that are perfect for learning your first pop up without the chaotic crowds of the main bays.

Kabalana beach has a great beginner section right on the beach break where the water is shallow and the whitewash is perfect for absolute beginners taking lessons.
