Are there ATM machines in Haputale town.
1 Answer from travellers
Haputale is a bustling highly active small mountain town and serves as a major commercial hub for the surrounding massive tea estates. You will absolutely completely easily find several highly reliable modern ATMs operated by major national banks like Commercial Bank and Hatton National Bank located directly on the main street near the railway station. They perfectly flawlessly accept all major international Visa and Mastercards. You absolutely do not need to nervously carry massive stacks of cash all the way from Colombo.

Driver claims the meter is broken and quotes an inflated flat rate. Common on arrival at airport or railway stations when tourists are tired and disoriented.
Drivers wearing official-looking uniforms claim to be "government-approved" and charge 3-5x normal rates. They may have fake badges or ID cards.
Women with babies approach asking you to buy milk powder at a nearby shop (not cash). The shop is run by accomplices and charges 5-10x normal price.
