The ancient Sigiriya fortress is entirely surrounded by incredibly dense deep jungle which serves as an immensely active major corridor for highly aggressive wild elephants specifically during the night and early dawn.

It is incredibly dangerously reckless to walk the dark unlit jungle roads from your remote eco lodge to the ticket gate alone at 6:30 AM.

You must absolutely always ask your hotel reception to organize a local tuk tuk to safely quickly drive you directly to the secure main entrance minimizing any potential terrifying wildlife encounters.
