Best time to visit Sri Lanka beaches for surfing and sun!
2 Answers from travellers
The best time to visit Sri Lanka beaches depends on your destination. For the highly popular south and west coasts, the prime season is from December to April. During these months, rainfall is minimal, the skies are bright blue, and the ocean is beautifully calm, making it perfect for swimming and beginner surfing. If you are planning to visit the east coast beaches like Arugam Bay or Trincomalee, the best weather is exactly the opposite, running from May to September.
If you want to avoid peak season crowds but still get decent weather, the shoulder months of November and April are fantastic. Prices for accommodation drop slightly, and the ocean conditions are still generally very favorable for water sports.
