Family chat says Diya Kapeema is 29 Aug 1.28 AM - official table is 27th, who is wrong

Uncle in the group just typed "water cutting 29 Aug 1.28, book the 28th night." Maligawa table we screenshotted: Diya Kapeema 27 August 01:28 AM, Grand Randoli 27 6:43 PM, Day Perahera 28 2:18 PM. People already argued the clock-order (1.28 before 6.43 on the same date). This is the date. Someone on a blog said morning of the 28th. Uncle added a day and landed on the 29th. Who is actually wrong before we buy two extra nights.

Quote the Maligawa page: Diya Kapeema 27 August 01:28 AM, Final Randoli 27 August 18:43, Dahawal 28 August 14:18. kandyesalaperahera.com/dates2026 does not list Diya Kapeema at all on this fetch (stops at Dahawal 28 2:18 PM). Some explainers put water-cutting on the morning of the 28th after the Grand. 29 August is not on either official table. Uncle adding a day is how you book a dead night. Treat 01:28 as the small hours attached to the Grand festival night until the Maligawa says otherwise - I cannot swear whether they mean 27 Aug 01:28 on the clock or after-midnight into Friday 28. Do not invent a 29 Aug 01:28 "correction."

If you are not staying through Thursday, this is not tonight's problem. If you are booking, book the Grand night of the 27th and ask the host in the morning which civil date they use for 1.28. Do not send a deposit to a villa "for the 29th cutting."

We showed up a day late once because an uncle did this. Ask the Maligawa page, not the group.
