Getting a dengue fever blood test at a private hospital.

If you suspect Dengue do not wait. Go immediately to a major private facility like Asiri Hospital or Nawaloka Hospital in Colombo. They have dedicated tropical disease wards and handle Dengue cases daily.
You simply walk into the Emergency Treatment Unit request a Full Blood Count FBC and a Dengue Antigen test. The process is incredibly fast and highly professional. You will have your verified lab results entirely in house within an hour for a very small fee.

Driver claims the meter is broken and quotes an inflated flat rate. Common on arrival at airport or railway stations when tourists are tired and disoriented.
Drivers wearing official-looking uniforms claim to be "government-approved" and charge 3-5x normal rates. They may have fake badges or ID cards.
Women with babies approach asking you to buy milk powder at a nearby shop (not cash). The shop is run by accomplices and charges 5-10x normal price.
