Heat advisory for Polonnaruwa today - is the bicycle circuit a bad joke at 10am
Hired bikes from the guesthouse for the ruins tomorrow. Then News 1st this morning said heat warnings for North Central and dry-weather hits on Polonnaruwa. CCF ticket is already thirty dollars each. Do we still pedal the full loop or just tuk-tuk the big three at 7am and hide.

The bicycle is the right way to see the citadel if you start at opening and are off the exposed brick by 10. After that the stone is an oven and today's advisory is not decoration. Do Quadrangle, Gal Vihara, maybe Rankot / Lankatilaka, then shade. Carry 2 litres. The ticket is for the archaeological site, not a weather refund.
We did 7-10 Wednesday and still felt cooked at Gal Vihara. Worth it. Afternoon would have been stupid.
If the Met language is "limit strenuous activity", that is the bike at noon. Tuk-tuk the far bits, do not be heroes.
Is the bike hire still a thing if we only do 7 to 10 or do they charge the full day anyway.
