Yes, you can easily travel from Kandy to Anuradhapura by catching a direct AC intercity bus from the Kandy Goods Shed bus terminal. The journey takes roughly 3 to 4 hours.

There is no direct train route between Kandy and Anuradhapura. You would have to take a train to Colombo first and then transfer, which takes an entire day. Stick to the buses or hire a private taxi.

If you hire a private driver, the journey is very scenic and you can easily stop at the Dambulla Cave Temple along the way since it is located directly on the main road between the two cities.
